Eiffel Tower: Stairs vs. Lift Tickets, and Which Levels They Reach

The Eiffel Tower sells several different ticket types — here's what each one actually gets you.

The Eiffel Tower's ticketing can be confusing because access to the summit and the two lower levels are sold separately, and the option to climb by stairs is cheaper — but more limited — than taking the lift.

Stairs tickets

Stair access is sold only up to the second floor and does not include the summit; it is the least expensive option and typically has shorter queues than the lift line.

Lift tickets

Lift tickets to the second floor include both lower levels; a separate, more expensive lift ticket adds access to the summit, reached via a second lift from the second floor.

Booking ahead matters

Online tickets are sold in timed slots and are the most reliable way to avoid the long walk-up queues at the base of the tower, especially in summer.
